Odessa Holiday Fashion WeekEnd: Day 2

Во второй день моего пребывания в Одессе я присоединилась к моим друзьям на сальса-фестивале "Одесса-Бум 7", который как раз проходил в это время. Мягко говоря, впечатление осталось не очень. Я ожидала чего-то масштабней, простой зритель не отличил бы данный фестиваль от анимации возле отеля где-нибудь, например, в Египте. Если бы не моя дружная и веселая компания, я бы вообще не знала что я там делаю.

Вечером, как и планировалось, я посетила показы на Odessa Holiday Fashion Week. Мне было очень интересно посмотреть на совместный показ Black & White summer looks дизайнеров PODOLYAN, VOROZHBYT & ZEMSKOVA, Elena BURBA и KamenskaKononova. Монохромные сочетания - моя слабость. Кстати, в тот день я тоже была в черно-белом. :)

On the next day of my stay in Odessa I joined my friends at the salsa-festival "Odessa Boom 7", which was taking place there during that time. To put it mildly, the impression was not as good as I expected. I was waiting for something bigger. The ordinary spectator wouldn't distinguish that festival from the animation near the hotel somewhere, for example, in Egypt. If there was no my friendly and funny company I wouldn't know what I was doing there.

In the evening, according to my plan, I attended the fashion shows at Odessa Holiday Fashion Week. I was curious to see the joint fashion show Black & White summer looks of PODOLYAN, VOROZHBYT & ZEMSKOVA, Elena BURBA и KamenskaKononova designers. The monochrome looks are my weakness. By the way, that day I was wearing black and white too. :)

Odessa Holiday Fashion WeekEnd: Day 1

Прошлые выходные были необычными прежде всего потому, что я провела их в Одессе. 

Приехав 28 июня, первым делом я отправилась в пляжный комплекс Ibiza. Возможно, это прозвучит чересчур громко, но я скажу, что одна из причин поехать в Одессу - посетить этот комплекс, это действительно того стоит.

Сразу после пляжа, я поехала в торговый центр Luxury Gallery "Сады Победы" на показы Odessa Holiday Fashion week. 

Ошибиться где же именно проходят показы было практически невозможно, так как у входа в торговый центр толпились дорогие машины и нарядно одетые люди, особо бросались в глаза вечерние платья в пол и очень высокие каблуки. Однозначно, я пришла по адресу. 


My last weekend was unusual first of all because I've spent it in Odessa.

When I came there on June 28th the first thing I did was visit the beach resort Ibiza. It might sound too pretentious but I'd say that one of the reasons to come to Odessa is to visit this resort, it's really worth it.

After the beach I went to the shopping mall Luxury Gallery "Sady Pobedy" to see the fashion shows at Odessa Holiday Fashion week.

It was almost impossible to get confused where exactly the shows were taking place because the entrance to the shopping mall was overcrowded with expensive cars and chicly dressed people. Most of all long evening gowns and very high heels were striking the eye. Which means I came to the right place.

Holiday fashion Weekend

С 27 по 29 июня в Одессе пройдет Holiday Fashion Week, а это значит, что есть еще один повод провести следующие выходные в Одессе. 

Помимо показов дизайнеров, фэшн-мероприятий и вечеринок, в рамках Holiday Fashion Week также пройдет конкурс молодых дизайнеров «Погляд у майбутнє». 29 июня 17 талантливых, предварительно отобранных, финалистов покажут нам свои работы. Конкурс «Погляд у майбутнє» является одним из наиболее авторитетных украинских конкурсов молодых дизайнеров одежды. Именно этот конкурс в свое время стал стартовой площадкой для уже известных украинских модельеров.

From June 17 to June 29 in Odessa the Holiday Fashion Week is going to take place which means that there is one more reason to spend your next weekend in Odessa.

Among the fashion shows, fashion-events and parties that are planned for Holiday Fashion Week a fashion-design contest "Look into the Future" will also be a part of program. On June 29 the 17 talented previously selected finalists will present us their works. The contest is considered to be one of the most authoritative ukrainian contests among young fashion designers. This contest was once a starting point for many now very well-known ukrainian designers.

Сегодня речь пойдет о моноспектакле известнейшего историка моды и фэшн-эксперта Александра Васильева. Моноспектакль с нетривиальным названием  «Голливуд и мода. В объятиях друг друга» состоялся в конгресс-холле отеля "Президент" в среду, 12 июня. 

Узнав о мероприятии несколько месяцев назад и все еще находясь под впечатлением после его предыдущего выступления о Коко Шанель, я сразу же заказала билет. 

Today I am going to talk about the mono-performance of the well-known fashion historian and fashion expert Alexandre Vassiliev. The mono-performance with a nontrivial title "Hollywood and fashion. In each other’s arms" took place in a congress-hall of "President" hotel on Wednesday, June 12.

I first heard about the event few months ago and as I was still under impression after his previous performance about Coco Chanel I immediately ordered the ticket.

Запоминающимся событием апреля стал показ нового для меня дизайнера Elena Golets, который проходил в живописном месте, практически в самом центре Андреевского спуска. 

Всегда любила это место, поэтому прогулка до Arcane Art Gallery, где собственно и проходил показ, уже сама по себе стала отличным завершением рабочего дня и предвкушала приятные эмоции.

A memorable event of April has become a fashion show of a designer, that is new to me, Elena Golets. This fashion show took place at the picturesque area almost in the very heart of Andriyivskyy Descent. 

I have been always loving this place that's why the promenade to Arcane Art Gallery, where the show was actually held, became a wonderful completion of a working day and was anticipating good emotions.

Подходя к месту назначения, я стала замечать людей, которые явно направлялись туда же, куда и я, но никаких опознавательных знаков по указанному адресу не было. Обычный подъезд на улице Десятинной, ничего не говорило ни о локации показа, ни об, упомянутой выше, галерее. Поэтому, когда я, согласно приглашению, поднялась на нужный этаж и попала в офис под нужным номером, моим глазам неожиданно открылась прекрасная картинная галерея, с просто захватывающей дух смотровой площадкой на втором этаже, о существовании которой я даже не слышала. Так что, прожив в Киеве практически всю свою жизнь, этот город не перестает меня удивлять.

On my way to the destination point, I started noticing people that were for sure walking to the same place as I did, but there were no identification marks at the indicated address. A normal doorway on Desiatynna street, nothing seemed to look like a location for a fashion show or the gallery mentioned above. That's why when I, according to the invitation, came to the correct floor and found the office with a correct number, an amazing art gallery appeared unexpectedly in front of my eyes with a breathtaking observation platform on the second floor. I have never even heard about existence of such gallery. So, after having spent almost my entire life in Kyiv, this city doesn't stop surprising me.

Для моды нет плохой погоды / There is no bad weather for fashion

Я до сих пор не написала о Mercedes-Benz Kiev Fashion Days, хотя это мероприятие прошло больше месяца назад, с 21 по 24 марта. Кто помнит, именно в это время Киев засыпало снегом. 

Сегодня на улице было +25, и мне кажется, будет весьма символичным написать именно сейчас о невероятном контрасте погодных условий.

Я очень хорошо помню как в пятницу, 22 марта, началась настоящая снежная буря, а уже в субботу было парализовано все движение в городе. 

Но наши люди не растерялись. Надеюсь все помнят горнолыжный комплекс "Андреевский", людей на лыжах посреди Крещатика, тишину из-за отсутствия машин и транспорта и о том, как публика в метро в момент преобразилась, так как метро стало чуть ли не единственным способом передвижения по городу.


I still haven't written about Mercedes-Benz Kiev Fashion Days, though this event took place more than one month ago, from March 21 to March 24. If you remember that was exactly the time when Kiev was covered with show.

Today was 25 degrees above zero and I consider this to be quite symbolical to write about such an extraordinary contrast of weather conditions.

I bear firmly in mind that that was Friday, March 22, when a real snow storm started. And on Saturday already all the traffic in a city was paralyzed. 

But our people didn't get lost. I hope everyone remembers the ski resort "Andreevskiy", people skying in the middle of Khreschatyk, the silence because of lack of cars and traffic and how the public in the metro immediately transformed cause the metro had become almost the only mode of transport across the city.

Summer Inspiration, Fashion and Salsa

На улице уже совсем тепло, а это значит, что очень скоро наступит настоящее лето. 

Помимо моего увлечения модой, в моей жизни немалое место отведено танцам. Новой страницей в этом увлечении стало прошлое лето, когда невероятное стечение обстоятельств позволило мне открыть совершенно неожиданное направление - Сальсу. Это событие действительно добавило красок и без того позитивному летнему настроению. 

Хочу поделиться с вами тем, что влияет на мое вдохновение, настроение и позитивный настрой. Каждое маленькое и, казалось бы, незначительное событие меняет наше мировосприятие и становится отличным источником для будущего творчества. Здесь я собрала яркие воспоминания прошлого лета и то, что меня вдохновляет на будущий сезон. 


It's really warm outside and this means that very soon a real summer will come.

Besides my passion for fashion, a big part of my life is given to dancing. Last summer an incredible mix of circumstances allowed me to open a new page of this passion and to discover the very new direction - Salsa. This event has really added colors to a positive summer mood. 

I'd like to share with you those things that influence my inspiration, mood and positive thinking. Every small and seems like insignificant event changes our perception of the world around us and becomes a wonderful source for future creativity. Here I've gathered my bright memories of the previous summer and everything that inspires me for the next season.

Пожалуй, именно этот пост и подведет итог прошедшей Ukrainian Fashion Week. Cезон был действительно богат на интересные идеи и новаторские решения. Я получила невероятный заряд энергии и вдохновения. Настоящий глоток свежего воздуха после зимней спячки.  

Very likely this post is going to summarize the past Ukrainian Fashion Week. This season was really full of interesting ideas and innovative solutions. I've got an incredible charge of energy and inspiration. A real breath of fresh air after winter hibernation.

Каждый сезон я обращаю особое внимание на детали. Детали - и есть то самое, что создает и помогает довершить лук. Оценить их разнообразие я предлагаю в подборке ниже.

Every season I focus my particular attention on details. Details - exactly that thing that creates and helps to finalize the look. To measure their diversity I suggest in my selection below.

UFW Day 5: IDoL by Serge SMOLIN A/W 2013-2014

Еще один показ, который я посетила в рамках Ukrainian Fashion week - показ бренда IDoL by Serge SMOLIN. На мой взгляд коллекция безумно позитивная и очень своеобразная. Я не хочу углубляться в идею или концепцию этой коллекции, а поэтому советую всем своим читателям сделать свой собственный вывод. Внизу выложен подробный фотоотчет и видео финального выхода. One more show that I attended during the Ukrainian Fashion week was a fashion show of IDoL by Serge SMOLIN brand. My point of view is that this collection is really positive and very peculiar. I don't want to get inside the idea or the concept of it that's why I advise to all my readers to make their own conclusion. Here below is a detailed photo report and a video with a final walk. UFW Day 4: PODOLYAN A/W 2013-2014

Прошло уже немало времени после показа бренда PODOLYAN, а приятные впечатления до сих пор остались. Коллекция очень интересная прежде всего потому, что в ней присутствует философская идея, коллекция не пустая, каждая вещь создана не просто так. 

It's been some time since the fashion show of PODOLYAN brand but good impressions still remained. This collection is very interesting first of all because there is a philosophical idea in it. It is not empty and every garment is created on purpose.

PODOLYAN A/W 2013-2014 

На время показа подиум превратился в маленький мирок, в котором происходила необычная история. Очень интересно был подобран свет и этот искусственный снег - было очень красиво! Как раз тот случай, когда сама атмосфера, созданная на подиуме, само представление, не мешает, и не затмевает, а наоборот дополняет и помогает раскрыть основную идею коллекции. Последнее время, в погоне за шоу, дизайнеры забывают, что должно быть первоочередным и получается, что шоу в итоге ярче, чем одежда, которую представляют дизайнеры.

During the show the catwalk turned into a small world where an extraordinary story was happening. The well-chosen light and the artificial snow were really beautiful! It's exactly the case when the atmosphere created on the catwalk and the show itself, weren't interfering or obscuring but on the contrary were completing and helping to discover the main idea of the collection. The last time trying to get the show designers forget what has to be in the priority and it turns that the show at the end is stronger and brighter that the clothes that designers are presenting.

PODOLYAN A/W 2013-2014 

В основе коллекции лежит философская сказка Мориса Метерлинка "Синяя птица". В этой истории Синяя птица является олицетворением счастья, а философский смысл состоит в том, что счастье всегда с нами, ведь каждый прожитый день - настоящее счастье. Самое главное не нужно ничего искать, стоит только открыть глаза и осмотреться по сторонам.

The collection is based on a philosophical fairytale of Maurice Maeterinck "The Blue Bird". In this story a Blue Bird is a personification of happiness and the philosophical sense means that happiness is always with us because living another day is a real happiness. The most important is that you don't need to search for anything, all you have to do is to open your eyes and look around.
